Why are your products eco-friendly?
1) Our natural paints, cleaning products and bodycare range contain no chemicals, reducing pollution.
2) Our water saving products, such as aerated showers and taps, cut your water use, reducing the need to build more dams.
3) Our energy saving products, such as efficient lightbulbs and solar batteries, cut your greenhouse gas emissions.

By shopping with EcoShop, you are contributing to a better environment for all of us.

Are there other benefits?
Yes, in two ways. Firstly, health. Our products will rid your home of the harmful (and possibly carcinogenic) toxins and poisins in chemical paints and cleaners. That's especially good for people with children, allergies or skin problems. Click here and here to read more about toxins in the home. It also reduces the risk of poisoning, especially for curious toddlers. (In 2002 in NSW alone, 7,632 people were treated for poisoning after swallowing domestic cleaning products. Source: NSW Poisons Centre.)

And our water/energy-saving and solar products can also save hundreds of dollars a year on energy and water bills.

Aren't eco-friendly products expensive?
Not necessarily. People often think our natural paints must be more expensive than ordinary paints; in fact they cost about the same as leading brands, and less than boutique/premium brands. Our cleaning products cost more weight-for-weight than supermarket brands, but are concentrated formulas that actually work out cheaper if used correctly.

Are your paints hardwearing and durable?
Our wall paints can be scrubbed clean and have a "hiding power" of 98.3% - better than most paints on the market. They have been tested by the Australian Ministry of Defence and meet Austrailan Standard AS1580.

Do your cleaning products really get things clean?
Absolutely. They are tested to hospital grade and commercial levels. Obviously the best proof is to try them, so we sell trial-sizes of some of our cleaners.

Do you sell Enjo mops?
No. Enjo's products are only sold through their own party-plan system. We sell our own excellent microfibre mop system, which also cleans without the need for detergent. See our Cleaning category.

Do water-saving showers give a satisfing shower?
The volume of water is less than a normal shower but purchase the right shower and you will still get satisfyingly heavy droplets of water covering you all over. Most people get used to it within a couple of days. We have installed thousands of our water saving showers without any complaints.

Why can chemical-based paints cause health problems?
Synthetic paints usually contain volatile organic solvents such as xylene, toluene, ketone, etc. Paints may appear to dry within a few hours but in reality they can emit chemicals (called "outgasing") for months or even years. These chemicals can cause headaches and nausea and some solvents can affect the respiratory tract and the central nervous system. Water-based paints (also called plastic, emulsion or latex) contain less petroleum derivatives and solvents than oil-based paints, but they still outgas (emit harmful chemicals) for some time after application.

I want to save money, energy and water. Where do I start?
Buy a water-saving shower from the wide range in the shop; it will save both water and the energy used to heat that water. Other cost-effective steps to take include installing tap aerators on your taps ($9 and $12), a cistern converter ($9) to reduce water used to flush your toilet and fitting energy-saving lightbulbs ($12 each). If you use AA batteries, switch to rechargeable. (See our Water saving and Energy saving categories.)

I want to cut down on toxins at home. Where do I start?
Buy one of our microfibre mops - it means you can clean many surfaces without any detergent at all. And use our toxin-free enviroCare range for other cleaning jobs (dishwashing, laundry, toilet, body, shampoo, etc). And next time you decorate, use our natural paints or wood varnishes. (See our Cleaning and Natural Paints categories.)

What if I buy something then decide I don't want it?
We offer a straightforward full refund on all our products. If for any reason you are not happy with anything you buy from us, simply send it back in the original packaging within 14 days and we'll exchange it or, if you prefer, give you a full refund.
